A Masterclass in Group Events at The Lodge at Torrey Pines
Gathering at the Lodge at Torrey Pines is a step away and a step above your typical San Diego travel experience. Whether you find yourself at this 5 Diamond Resort for an important business meeting or a special corporate incentives trip, stepping into The Lodge feels like returning home, even if it’s your first time there. Our client needed assets that captured that exact feeling to market group sales as a vertical, and to equip their sales team with updated, eye-catching, group-sales specific assets.
It was our job to capture the luxury craftsmanship and warmth of group gatherings at The Lodge. Our approach was to create a video that showcased both the banquet team’s offering, assisting them in selling these group activations, and showed the sensual experience of staying onsite. Instead of the typical cold architectural type-videos that show an empty group space like a ballroom, and inviting meeting planners to “picture your group here,” we needed to show the group enjoying all the resort has to offer.
Logistically, a shoot like this is impossible without working hand-in-hand with the resort’s banquet team. In pre-production, our producers worked closely with The Lodge’s Director of Catering & Conference Services to ensure each scene was designed and staged to reflect the best of the space. From there, the producers collaborated with our director to make sure diagrams of each space—complete with furniture, decor, stages, tables, food/drink setups and all—were understood ahead of time to inform camera movements and shot design. Once that was all agreed upon, final Banquet Event Orders were reviewed by production and submitted by the team onsite. Having buy in, and direct involvement with the banquets team enabled this production to shine.
